I have been watching the Vuelta today and I noticed that Sandy Casar (Francaise des Jeux) was wearing a Gore Oxygen Paclite jacket. As far as I'm aware Gore do not sponsor the Team, so obviously somebody knows there products and has purchased a quality bit of kit.
I originally reviewed the jacket for RoadcyclingUK a while back, you can read it here.
Not wasting valuable energy trying to keep warm will save more in the tank for when the hammer goes down, especially when they are being chased down a mountain. With all this crap wet weather we are having this jacket makes a great choice, and you should consider one, as I think we are in for a long wet winter.
The verdict for the review read "This summer has been very wet at times and it has been a welcome friend that I have pulled out of my back pocket. If you had to buy one jacket to use for commuting, training, racing etc you couldn't go far wrong in buying an Oxygen jacket. It is light, waterproof and, best of all, well made and should offer years of hard service."
I stand by these words as I was gutted when Oxygen II died in a Flanders lane this year. It is still useable but with the holes sustained in the crash I will be purchasing a Gore patch kit to resurrect it.
