Okay it's been a while sine the TdF finished, but what with moving house, no broadband and a holiday I am only getting round to assessing my podium and jersey finishers.
So what did I originally say:
Overall, head says Cadel Evans but my heart says Kim Kirchen
Green Jersey head says Thor Hushovd and the heart says Philippe Gilbert
Polka Head says Sylvain Chavanel and my heart says Damiano Cunego
Podium
Cadel Evans
Kim Kirchen
Carlos Sastre
***********************************************************************************
Well as you can see by the final standings, not very well with the only notable mentions that I at least placed Sastre and Evans on the podium but on the wrong steps.
Both Kirchen and Evans spent time in yellow, so again close but no cigar. Chavanel spent a short spell in the Polka jersey and poor Cunego just had a shocking Tour.
Hushovd, along with all of the worlds top sprinters were left wondering what happened when Mark Cavendish bagged four stages. Oscar Freire managed to win Spains first ever Green jersey, which is both surprising and refreshing. He ended up 50 points ahead of Thor, so a clear gap between first and second place.
I am pleased that I am not a betting man, otherwise I really would be broke.
