Rouleur Annual 2008 - Review

Rouleur Logo

The first edition was described 'as perfect for the coffee table' by Cycling Plus, and although this is true as you can sit down with some fresh brewed java, it is also a book that you can enjoy over a couple of beers or a good bottle of red.

Rapha Classic Jersey - Review

rapha logo
Rapha embody and bridge the gap between performance road wear and the retrocentric fashions of the 50's, 60's and the 70's. Since it's inception in 2004 this jersey has become a modern classic, selling doubtless hundreds of jerseys over the years.

World Championship - Road 2008 - Mens - Hilights

This was a great Race and the winner was a deserving victor. The course itself encouraged an attacking race and nobody was left disappointed, except maybe Bettini who was hoping for a straight third win.

I hope Ballan doesn't suffer the modern eras Rainbow Jersey curse, as I am hoping he can do the Flanders/Roubaix double wearing the classiest jersey of them all. Relive the last part of the race and lick your lips at what may come in the Classics.

Guilt, friend or foe

Angel of Lent

Guilt, a five lettered word that extends it's influence beyond the dictionary definition. In my time as a cyclist is has been a friend and and foe, but thankfully never my master.

What Cake

So the question is what is the best post ride cake?

I am going to say either carrot or banana.

The STAR bike - thoughts from Darren Crisp of Crisp Titanium.

I sent my article to some respected frame builders around the world to get their take on the STAR bike. Am I barking up the wrong tree, is it possible or should I compromise and go down the normal route and except what is available. I'll pop my thoughts in bold underneath Darren's comments.

Paris Roubaix 1981

a Funny old week

It has been a funny old week here in the UK. I read with little surprise of the various positive tested athletes over the last ten days. The biggest sadness it brings is that it throws into doubt all performances. Is the time coming when DNA testing will be the only way to instil confidence into the fans.

The STAR bike, part two

Duell Passion
I have been talking to some riders and frame builders since I posted my original thoughts on this bike. People who have been riding since before I was born would happily tell me that the S.T.A.R. bike is not new, but a modern take on the bikes that they had to ride.
