On Sunday 24th of August it was Roger De Vlaeminck's birthday, he was 61. One of the greatest films on cyclesport happens to capture Roger (and many others) at various points in their careers. Unfortunately De Vlaeminck did not win that day as he had done the year before (and the year after in 1977) but in would be Marc Demeyer who would hold aloft the prized trophy of the cobblestone.

Yes it's an advert. Have I made any money from it, well NO is the answer. So why you may ask have I posted it on the site. Well this was one of my defining moments of the Olympics. Nicole is a true champion and a great example to all riders

Pro cycling is changing as a new mood of openness has revealed information that previously would have been left unmentioned. Some of this information is anti doping related, which is good, as most of you like myself like to think of their exploits as 'super human' rather than 'super charged'.

I am sure that for many of you it will come as no surprise that NorthWave has decided to suspend it's sponsorship agreement. Rico's positive test during this years Tour de France and then confession to CONI led to this position.

When Sunday came I knew I had to go for a ride. Part of that is due to the impending Sportive at the end of August, and the other to get some head space. The ride started in it's most ordinary way, pedal strokes, waking up on the bike and slowly feeling better.
