It's nearly here . . . . TdF and the Etape

In seven days the first stage of this years TdF will have finished and we will be able to see who has become the first wearer of the yellow jersey. This in itself is normally not that an exciting event, but with this years course opting for an open road stage rather than a prologue or time trail, it could produce a very unexpected outcome.

Secrets from the Wardrobe - Part One

Abandoned Rapha Kit
Over the years there have been many items of clothing that I have discovered and wish someone had told me about. I just wish they had taken me aside and given me a list of the most important items to have. This isn’t a brand endorsement for a group of companies but my thoughts of the items that any serious cyclist should have hidden away in their wardrobe. Hopefully you will be able to invest wisely in your kit, and so equip yourself for any weather condition.

At this time of the year, just before the Tour, it is not uncommon to see what we'll be able to buy on the showroom floor next year. Most people have seen the Dura Ace 7900 pictures and the rumours of Super Record making it's return have excited many a fan, now it's the turn of the Felt AR bike.

Even the PRO's do it.

A friend of mine told me that the Spanish PRO's use sprinting for signs in almost every training ride that they do. It is probably a great way to simulate the racing feel when out training. Think about it, you're busting a gut, it's four hours into your ride and then whoosh suddenly one of the riders in your small peloton flashes past in an attempt to be first to the sign.

BMC Racemaster SLX

You may have seen advertising pictures in this months cycling magazines, it is the new Racemaster SLX frameset. The frame shape is an adaptation of the current lines that BMC use. So what can I tell you about it, well is it is an alloy/carbon mix, which may surprise you from the picture. The headtube, top tube and seatstays are all Easton CNT carbon.
